As this is written, we, Judaism and indeed the whole country and world are still going through precarious and trying times.
Despite the current problems, we remain a growing Jewish family. Family implies bonds not only of religion but also of friendship, compassion and caring for each other. We are fortunate to have strong leadership both on our board and from Rabbi Ellen. The result is that we have a vision of where we are going and can muster the resources to achieve this vision.
Our organization is a “synagogue without walls” that is active in promoting Jewish life and the Chavurah here in Tidewater.
We thank our friends and supporters for coming to religious events and social gatherings. We especially want to thank those who are members. Membership does more than provide you with High Holiday admission. It is our lifeblood which permits you to vote and hold office, to be an integral part of Chavurah affairs and join us at social events. Membership also includes an invitation to our second night Passover seder. During these trying times, dues from members support and sustain us.
We are proud that we are a vibrant Jewish Family in Hampton Roads. As Jewish demographics and the practices of Judaism change so do we, and we heed the voices of our members. We also need our voices on social media posting and supporting our events.
The Chavurah is like a beautiful flower which requires watering and nurturing so we can continue to grow and serve. The rewards of doing so are great. We look forward to seeing you at one of our virtual services or events posted on this website.
This is the spirit, heart and soul of our Chavurah. Together we will not only make it through this perilous time but also continue to grow and prosper. Let us make this journey together!
Officers, Board and Rabbi of The Tidewater Chavurah.
